Traditional clothing of a thousand colours, long braids, bowler hats, and lively markets. This is one of the known sides of Bolivia. But it has more. Both unknown and fascinating.

Its capital city, La Paz, is 3600 meters over sea level. This, by itself, already gives it character. However, let\u2019s discover its unknown side. In reality, La Paz is only its administrative capital and where the government is located. Its other capital city is Sucre, a Bolivian Altiplano city full of rich colonial architecture that is \u201conly\u201d 2810 metres above sea level.<\/p>\n

We continue with the unknown: Copacabana. You might think, \u201chow is it unknown, if it\u2019s one of the most famous beaches in the world?\u201d. And you\u2019re right, but we\u2019re not talking about Brazil, we\u2019re talking about the Bolivian Copacabana, which also has a beach, by the way. A lively beach where to do all sorts of aquatic activities 3000 metres above sea level, in the Lake Titicaca!<\/p>\n

The Titicaca is the highest sailable water surface in the world. It\u2019s part of the Andes mountain range and cradle of indigenous civilisations that remain present and alive in the whole territory.<\/p>\n

In Bolivia we can collect seemingly imposible images, like at the falsely marine horizons of the Uyuni Salt Flats. They are the world\u2019s largest salt flats and are also found in the Andes. One of the most exceptional and photogenic places on Earth.<\/p>\n

And if Bolivia has its Copacabana beach it also has its Puerta del Sol. It\u2019s found in the Tihuanaco archeological site. Its true meaning is still unknown as of today, but it is believed that it has something to do with astronomy. An Aymara legend says that a superior force will enter though that door on the day that humanity needs salvation. Venturing on the reason for its ancestral construction, or simply feeling first-hand this power might be a daring amusement.<\/p>\n

We won\u2019t get tired of repeating that Bolivia is a country of heights. Especially after having gone on roads of impossible slopes such as the Yungas road, that ascends up to 4650 metres. Quite the challenge for any road cycling enthusiast, and even for any vehicle.<\/p>\n
