To travel to Chad, it is necessary to pack a certain dose of adventurous spirit. It isn’t the place with the best communication or the best hotels. Instead, it possesses incredible treasures that make for an unforgettable trip.
Treasure 1: The Ennedi desert. For many, the most beautiful place in the Sahara. It is a plateau one thousand meters above sea level where magical rock formations challenge the visitor to further enter through sandstone canyons to discover lakes where camel caravans rest.
Treasure 2: The Zakouma National Park. It’s campsites, perfectly prepared for exploration, are the starting point of safaris to contemplate the spectacle of the wildlife of giraffes, elephants, antelopes, buffalos, leopards, or hyenas.
Treasure 3: The Chad lake and the eighteen Ounianga lakes. More than one treasure, they are nineteen. They form spectacular extensions of saltwater and freshwater covered by rushes and are rich in aquatic fauna.
Treasure 4: Very close to the capital city, Yamena, we find Gaoui, a charming village where all its houses are built from mud: one tonality and many years of history and remnants of the Sao civilisation.
Treasure 5: Sahr. It is the second most important city of the country, the cotton capital. But there, we do not look for cotton. Rather, we seek to discover its culture, its people, its lifestyle. The explosion of colour in their clothing. The genuinely African rites and dances. And the sunsets when we approach the shore of the Chari river to watch the slow routine of the hippopotamuses.
