A dose of realism: it’s impossible to discover Madagascar in one trip. A second dose of realism: anywhere in Madagascar is fascinating.
Wherever you point to in a map, Madagascar has something special to offer, something to fall in love with, something unique to enjoy.
Its landscapes are extraordinary. Not falling in love with the crimson tones of the ground, the silhouettes of baobabs, or the fertile rice terraces is impossible.
Hence, it isn’t hard to understand why such a beautiful landscape has been chosen by so many animals to inhabit it. 200,000 species live in Madagascar. And no, we aren’t wrong. They are 200,000 and still counting as previously-unknown species are still being discovered. 615 in the last decade.
Among these, the charming lemurs, the aggressive fossa, or the tranquil zebus, which are so important to the Malagasy population that their silhouette is present in the National Coat of Arms. The list, as we say, is endless, but it is worth mentioning chameleons, geckos, or tomato frogs with their characteristic red that challenges reality.
Along the immensity of its coast, over 5000 kilometres, heavenly beaches emerge. It is almost impossible to chose one but we are obliged to suggest the best, and that is the Nosy Antafana biosphere reserve.
Madagascar also flaunts its Diego Suárez bay, where Daniel Defoe located Robinson Crusoe; the Isalo National Park with its cascades, canyons and natural pools; the Anjà National Park with its surprising fauna; or Santa María island, formerly pirate territory now welcoming paradise seekers.
Madagascar can even be a destination for solidarity. In Ferrer & Saret we organise a solidarity experience with the NGO Yamuna whose mission is child protection and female empowerment.
Madagascar is the trip of a lifetime.
