Panama:
a country of contrasts
Get close to the Panama Canal and choose your adjective: colossal? Unexpected?
Stroll at sunset through Panama’s colonial quarter and stop for a chicheme
1,500 islands. Kuna Yala, Bocas del Toro and Islas Secas, our favourites
The Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean. Skyscrapers and cottages. Relax and adventure. Small country, great contrasts..
Everything that seems distant in Panama is instead close by. You can start your day in the picturesque streets of Panama City’s old town and seconds later see the giant ships that cross the canal’s locks. You reach Ancon Hill and, from there, you have a panoramic view of the city’s impressive skyscrapers whilst being in a tropical jungle.
In the Pacific coast, we find waves to surf on and dive next to whale sharks. Some kilometres away, the Caribbean flaunts its most relaxed and beautiful version.
The country’s interior has a natural richness that is difficult to replicate thanks to its many waterfalls, coffee plantations, and tropical paths.
Over 200 species of mammals and almost 1000 types of birds. Panama is also a paradise for the observation fauna.
But in Panama you must always leave time to visit the Bocas del Toro archipelago and the Coiba National Park and, between both places, notice a profound contrast: the touristic atmosphere with all its luxuries and possibilities in Bocas del Toro on one hand, and on the other, the calmness of a scarcely-visited please like Coiba, you eyes will spot everything from macaws to humpback whales.
Contrasts and more contrasts. Panama.

Travel recommendations for Panamá
In Panama, you can marvel at an extraordinary array of wildlife. But above all, you’ll enjoy its soothing, relaxing landscapes.
- Diving. A hammerhead shark, a whale shark, three manta rays. A few minutes later it is impossible to keep count in such a generous sea. And when you step out of the sea, the peace continues

- Are there any parties with Caribbean Congos? Don’t miss them

- Find binoculars and go to the Soberania National Park, a tropical jungle with 500 bird species competing to show off their colours.

- The Panama highlands show the more natural side of the country: jungle, rivers, waterfalls…

- Visit the Biodiversity Museum, a Frank Gehry–designed building. Fascinating both inside and out
