Get ready for the surprise

Romania exceeds expectations, because it is very true that many of us travel there with moderate expectations.

Almost always we go hunting for what we expect. However, in Romania the unexpected appears.

As if by quantum art, beautifully architected buildings seem to have been transported there. Forests combine with green, gentle meadows. Monasteries compete to be the most beautiful in location and authenticity. Villages seem determined to make you believe you are in a fairytale.

Rumanía

Reality imposes itself on prejudices

The image of a grey country is undone very quickly. Flowers are omnipresent in homes, on the streets, and in the countryside. The buildings are preserved with dignity, and the stones seem to be polished every night to shine by day.

And to that, add the legends.

From Dracula to the houses with eyes

Dracula is a fictional character inspired by a prince (Prince Vlad of Wallachia), not a count. His castle stands proudly atop a great rock.

Despite its beauty, it is not the most imposing in the country. There, it is beaten by Peles Castle.

The painted monasteries of Bucovina are reason enough to justify the trip in themselves. Not only for their valuable paintings, but also for the beauty of that region of the country.

Villages like Sighisoara make you walk through the pages of a fairy tale, and in Sibiu, buildings seem to have eyes that watch you, giving rise to endless legends.

And Brasov? And Bucharest itself?

I think this country is going to need more pages on this blog
